ABOUT THE EVENT
Bring the family out for the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA)’s Drone Safety Day at the Oswego County Airport
“Fly RIGHT – it’s the safe way to fly” is the annual theme for the FAA event, which is designed to help the drone community understand the importance of flying safely. The event will include flight simulations and live-stream demonstrations. Educational information will also be available for recreational UAS pilots to help them understand the rules and regulations to become a recreational UAS pilot.
The FAA’s focus areas for this event include:
Education – fostering understanding about how drones work and demonstrate how they’re being used as an educational tool in schools and classrooms.
Economics – highlighting how drones can save money, improve safety and help a community by doing important missions like inspecting critical infrastructure including power lines, bridges and towers without putting people at risk.
Environment – using drones as a cleaner, more efficient way to access air travel and services, helping reduce pollution and making aviation more eco-friendly for everyone.
Emergencies – highlighting how drones are utilized in emergency situations such as natural disasters, search and rescue, firefighting, public safety and other uses.
